A Word About Certified Intervention Professional (CIP)

In the United States, there is no actual licensing for people performing interventions. However, there are several ways families can perform due diligence when selecting an interventionist.

Researching the background and qualifications of the interventionist is important. Knowing they have the experience needed, both from a standpoint of actual intervention experience as well as other experience which bears upon their ability to select the right treatment center for your loved one, as well as being able to handle a variety of types of problems facing your loved one and your family is also important.

One of the best ways to confirm these items is achievement of the Certified Intervention Professional (CIP) credential issued by the PA Certification Board. The CIP credential replaced the Board Registered Interventionist (BRI) credential several years ago.

The PA Certification Board requires that intervention candidates for credentialing demonstrate verified qualifications, education, and experience to achieve the CIP credential. Also, CIP’s must obtain Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every two year period in order to renew their CIP.

More information about this may be found at PA Certification Board
